Dr. Priscila Chaverri

Education:

  • Ph.D. Tokyo University of Agriculture International Agricultural Development, March 2007
  • M.S. Tokyo University of Agriculture International Agricultural Development, March 2004
  • B.A. Tokyo University of Agriculture Food Environment Economics, March 2002

Research:

The goal of my research is to monograph the genus Nectria (sense stricto) including its related anamorphs. The fungi are found around the world and occur primarily on recently dead hardwood trees and as pathogens of woody plants. The scope of this project also includes developing an overall phylogeny for genera of the Nectriaceae because Nectria is type genus of this family. Dr. Priscila Chaverri (PSLA) and Amy Y. Rossman (USDA-ARS Systematic Mycology and Microbiology Lab) supervise the project. Support is provided by NSF Partnerships for Enhancing Expertise in Taxonomy (PEET) Project.
My previous research was pathology and taxonomy of Nectrioid fungi in Japan while working at the Microorganisms Section of NIAS Genebank, National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, as Postdoctoral Researcher.
