Research:

Emphasis Area: Breeding and Genetics

Project Title: "Towards the Creation of Sterile Nursery Plants". Collaborated with the National Arboretum.

Started Program: August 2007

The project includes manipulating the chromosomal level, aka ploidy level, of Cercis yunnanensis, which is a species of redbud native to China. This project is being done with all in vitro plants.

Josh obtained the status of "Certified Arborist" through the International Society of Arboriculture May 2004 and continues to hold this title

As a passion he enjoys promoting and discussing trees and shrubs for the ornamental landscape with emphasis on the newer selections and cultivars. The Kindred Spirit ®Hybrid Oak is a tree that he has obtained a patent and registered trademark on.
