Dr. Harry Swartz

Education:

  • B.A. in Biology from State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, 1973.
  • Ph.D. in Pomology from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, 1980.

Area of Specialization:

  • Strawberry, raspberry and blackberry breeding with emphasis on utilization of primitive germplasm, biotechnology and tissue culture techniques to create superior cultivars primarily for improved fruit quality and nutrient value.
  • Tissue culture and propagation of woody plants, especially as an aid in production of plants in non-traditional areas.
  • Culture and management of small fruits with an emphasis on methodologies required for pesticide free fruit production.
