Collaborative Research Program Between the Wheat Breeding Program at the University of Maryland and the Instituto Fitotécnico de Santa Catalina of the National University of La Plata, Buenos Aires.
In 2008, a winter wheat F1 off-season nursery was successfully grown at the Instituto Fitotécnico de Santa Catalina of the National University of La Plata, Buenos Aires. It was planted in April and harvested in November. This project benefits the wheat breeding program of the University of Maryland, North Carolina State University and the University of Kentucky by shortening the time of developing new varieties of winter wheat.
